Pixel 3 RMA

 ·  ☕ 3 min read

Preface

Few days ago, I used the Pixel 3 as usual, but found that the battery was suspected to be swollen, and also the back cover.

This is the first time I have encountered this situation, is it time to have a new one? especially recently Pixel 6 / Pixel 6 Pro is a bit tempting

Ask customer service

Pixel serieries can directly contact customer service staff inside it, and use instant messaging to communicate

Someone contacted me soon and I needed to provide information

  • Pixel 3 state with photo (Share with Google drive or Google photo)
  • Device IMEI or Google Store order number (I only provided IMEI)
  • Past usage (Whether you use the original charger, etc.)

And then will continue contact with email later

RMA

The reply I got was: Exceeded the warranty period, so it is not eligible for Google’s warranty, and will try to apply for one free exchange service for you.

I didn’t expect that there will be a chance to exchange the product after almost three years, although it would not be a new one.
If agree to exchange, need to provide

  • Full name:
  • Mailing address:
  • Postal code:
  • Contact number:

And then will receive another mail title start with RMA, there will be a description of the entire process, as well as the RMA reply slip

You have to

  • Confirm the information on the RMA reply slip is correct
  • Fill out the Return My Order form
  • (Important) Restore the initial factory settings of Pixel 3 and remove the SIM card
  • Put the phone in and print out the RMA and put it in the original box or other box

After that, wait for the delivery

Guarantee expired

Conclusion

I thought I had to find the store to change the battery, but I didn’t expect to have the opportunity to replace it with another one (only once)
Later, I checked it and found out that Google is cooperating with Fun2Repair
Maybe I can contact them in the future, but I think I would still ask the customer service first :)

After getting this one, I also upgraded to Android 12, the experience is good, and it is working well
